A suggested day

  • 9:00 AMStart at Boring Farm for Saturday raspberry picking — reservations required, and morning slots go first. The farm is small and the experience is unhurried.
  • 10:30 AMDrive to Kokopelli Farm for boysenberries and blackberries, then Duckworth Family Farm for blueberries and ice cream. Both are within a few minutes of each other.
  • 12:30 PMLunch in downtown Sebastopol — the main street has good options and is five minutes from most trail farms.
  • 2:00 PMVisit Earthseed Farm for the permaculture orchard experience — apples, pears, persimmons, and a growing philosophy you won't find anywhere else on the trail.
  • 4:00 PMDrive north to Healdsburg and end the day at Front Porch Farm for organic blackberries and cut flowers, then walk the Healdsburg plaza for a glass of wine before heading home.

Before you go

  • Nearly every farm on this trail is appointment-based or reservation-required. Book all your stops 2–5 days in advance — same-day walk-ins are rarely possible.
  • This trail runs on farm time. Patches open when fruit is ripe and close when it's gone — confirm the morning of your visit even if you have a reservation.
  • The farms are spaced across a 15-mile radius rather than a tight cluster. Download offline maps before you go — rural roads between Sebastopol and Healdsburg have inconsistent signal.
  • Bringing your own containers is encouraged at most farms here. Clamshells and bags are available but welcomed less than reusables.
  • If you're combining with wine country, the trail sits 15 minutes from Healdsburg, 30 from Sonoma — an easy pair with an afternoon in either town.

Frequently asked

When is the best time for the Sebastopol berry farms?
June and July for raspberries, boysenberries, and blueberries — peak berry season. Blackberries peak in August. Apple season opens in August with Gravensteins and runs through October.
Do all these farms require reservations?
Yes — most farms on this trail are small operations that manage capacity through appointments. Book 2–5 days in advance and confirm the day before. Walk-ins are rare.
How far is Sebastopol from San Francisco?
About 55 miles north via Highway 101 — roughly 60 to 75 minutes depending on Bay Area traffic. From Marin it's closer to 45 minutes.
What makes this trail different from Apple Hill or Brentwood?
Scale and philosophy. These are small, certified-organic farms where picking is often the whole experience — no bakeries or corn mazes. The crops are more diverse (boysenberries, persimmons, permaculture fruit) and the pace is quieter.
Is this trail good for kids?
Yes for younger kids at Duckworth Family Farm, which has farm animals and blueberry ice cream. The other farms are smaller operations — call ahead to confirm the vibe before bringing toddlers.
Seasons shift with the weather — check each farm's own site or social pages the morning you go. Spot something out of date? Let us know.
