The Melcher family began growing hazelnuts on a 40-acre farm in St. Paul in 1957 and now farms about 300 acres in the heart of the Willamette Valley. Their on-farm store at 8046 McKay Road NE sells the farm's own hazelnuts in raw, dry-roasted, and roasted-and-salted forms, plus chocolate-covered varieties, hazelnut butter, oils, trail mixes, and gift boxes. The store is open Monday through Saturday year-round; hazelnuts are harvested in the fall.
