Smith Berry Barn's fall apple celebration — now called Cider Days, 'where Apple Fest meets Cider Fest' — fills a September weekend at this 30-acre family farm in the Scholls countryside near Hillsboro. The five-acre orchard grows more than 20 antique and modern apple varieties available for picking and purchase, alongside hard cider sampling from Bull Run Cider and estate-grown options, live music, hayrides to the orchard, a hay maze and straw pyramid, and farm-kitchen treats like caramel apples and pumpkin spice milkshakes. The pumpkin patch and broader fall season run from late September through October, with hard cider and wine tastings on weekends. 2025 dates were September 20–21; 2026 dates are estimated and not yet announced.
