Spoke and Leaf Farm is a one-acre market garden in the foothills outside North Plains, Oregon, a short drive west of Portland. Founded in 2015 by Bonnie Hildebrand, the farm is woman-owned and operated, and it has been stock-free from the start: soil fertility is built with vegan methods, with no manure, feather meal, blood meal, fish meal, or fish emulsion anywhere in the system, and no chemical inputs either. Despite its small footprint the farm grows a full market-garden diversity of seasonal vegetables, enough to anchor a 22-week CSA that comes with member events on the farm each season. There's also a home-delivery vegetable option running up to 26 weeks of the year, and a weekly stall at the Orenco Station Farmers Market in Hillsboro on Sundays. The farm has been profiled by the Veganic World and Seed the Commons growing directories, its LocalHarvest listing was refreshed in early 2025, and it has grown stock-free continuously since its founding.
